Animated Speech Corporation has been awarded two federal grants for testing the effectiveness of Baldi-based technologies with children who have language challenges. These Small Business Innovation and Research (SBIR) grants were made by:
Department of Education
In support of a "Speech Production Training Agent for Children with Language Challenges," this grant enabled ASC to investigate—and prove—the effectiveness of "visible speech" as an assistant for teachers and speech pathologists who work with speech-impaired and deaf children.
National Institute for Deafness and Other Communication Disorders
This grant enabled us to explore the use of "Animated Speech Tutors For Deaf and Autistic Children" by integrating Baldi into a software platform that included text-to-speech; simple pedagogical tools for building vocabulary, language, speech, and reading lessons; and support for testing, scoring, and web-based distribution and exchange of lessons.
